The southern part of Miyazaki offers a lot of activities for visitors. The Omi shrine, the Moai statues located at Sun Messe Nichinan, the Kojira monkey island, surfing and a tropical atmosphere. Here are our tested and recommended spots in the area!
Tsubakiyama Forest Park
After leaving Miyazaki city to go south. Explore the montaina area of Tsubakiyama. A huge parking with toilets with nice montains view. This is linked to a park with a huge collection of Camelia trees.
Ibii Diamond beach
This beach may not have toilets but is a great spot to spend the night next to the ocean.
Sakaematsu Beach
This beach has a campground and a free parking just next to the ocean. Toilets are available. In the summer it may get crowded but you can swim and do snorkeling from there.
Michi no eki Nango
This road side station is excellent to spend the night. You can sleep in the main parking or drive one minute up if you want to be really calm with a small parking with toilets.
Koigaura Cove Lookout
Koigaura is a famous surf point in Miyazaki. This isolated parking on the top of a hill is a great place to spend the night. Toilets are available too.
Cape Toi Lighthouse
Cape Toi is famous for its scenic views over the pacific ocean and wild horses. The lighthouse parking has toilets and you can also enjoy the sunset and the sunrise from it! Don't be afraid if you hear some noises during the night as wild horses might get curious and approach your car...
