1. Introduction

Welcome to Camp in Japan ("we," "us," or "our"), a community resource for campervan and camping-car travel in Japan. By accessing or using our website at campinjapan.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

2. Pro supporter membership

Pro is an optional supporter tier that unlocks additional features on the Site. By purchasing Pro, you make a one-time payment (minimum USD $10 unless we communicate otherwise) to support the creation of tools and content around camping and campervan travel in Japan. Pro is not sold as traditional software-as-a-service; it is a way to back the project and receive access to supporter benefits.

• Lifetime of the Site: Pro access remains available for as long as we operate the Site. If the Site is permanently discontinued, Pro access naturally ends with it.
• Features may evolve: We may add, change, or retire specific Pro features over time while keeping the spirit of supporter access.
• Typical Pro benefits include member-only articles, curated travel plans for supporters, and travel log creation with photo uploads, as described on our Pro supporters page.

3. Payments

Payments for Pro are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card numbers, bank details, or other payment credentials on our servers. Stripe collects and processes payment information subject to its own terms and privacy policy.

You are responsible for providing accurate billing information and for any taxes or fees that may apply in your jurisdiction.

Because Pro is a one-time supporter payment with lifetime access for the life of the Site, payments are generally non-refundable. If you believe there was a billing error, contact us via Contact and we will review your case in good faith.

4. User accounts

You may need an account to use certain features, including Pro. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.

5. Content and conduct

You may submit or post content (for example travel logs, forum posts, or comments). You retain ownership of your content, but you grant us a license to host, display, and distribute it as needed to operate the Site. You agree not to post unlawful, abusive, misleading, or infringing material. We may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms or harm the community.

6. Site availability

We aim to keep the Site reliable and secure, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Maintenance, technical issues, or events beyond our control may affect availability. We are not liable for any loss arising from downtime except where required by applicable law.

7. Privacy

We handle personal data in line with applicable privacy laws. We do not store payment card or full payment credentials ourselves; Stripe handles payment data. Details are in our Privacy Policy. Questions may also be sent through Contact.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

9. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The Site and its content are provided "as is" for informational and community purposes. Travel and outdoor activities involve risk; you are solely responsible for your safety and compliance with local laws and regulations. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties and limit our liability for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or Pro.
