You can see compact kei campers, Hiace conversions, larger motorhomes, trailers, accessories, batteries, roof tents, toilets, layouts, and small details that are hard to judge from photos. For anyone thinking about renting, buying, or simply understanding what "camping car" means in Japan, these events are useful even if you are not ready to spend any money.

Yokohama Camping Car Show 2026
The Yokohama show is a good option if you are based around Tokyo and do not want to wait for the huge Makuhari event in February.
It will be held at Pacifico Yokohama on September 26 and 27, 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00. The official page lists paid parking and notes that pets are not allowed inside the event.
Yokohama is especially practical if you are still in the research stage. You can go by train, see many builders in one place, then keep notes on layouts and vehicle sizes before comparing rental or second-hand options later.
Osaka Camping Car Fair 2026
The autumn Osaka event will be held at Intex Osaka on October 24 and 25, 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00.
Osaka is one of the most useful locations for people planning road trips through Kansai, Shikoku, Chugoku, or Kyushu. If you are based in western Japan, this is much easier than traveling all the way to Tokyo just to compare vehicles.
If you are thinking about a longer trip, use this kind of event to sit inside different layouts. Photos make every van look spacious. Sitting at the table, lying on the bed, checking storage, and seeing where wet gear would go tells you much more.
Nagoya Camping Car Fair 2026 Autumn
The Nagoya autumn fair is scheduled for November 7 and 8, 2026 at Aichi Sky Expo, near Chubu Centrair International Airport.
This is a good one for people in central Japan. Nagoya sits between Kansai, the Japanese Alps, Ise-Shima, Gifu, Shizuoka, and the Hokuriku side, so the vehicles on display often feel relevant to weekend road trips as much as long holidays.
The 2027 spring Nagoya event is already listed too, but at Port Messe Nagoya on February 20 and 21, 2027, so check the venue carefully if you are saving dates.
Fukuoka Camping Car Show 2026
The Fukuoka Camping Car Show will be held at Marine Messe Fukuoka on November 14 and 15, 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00.
For Kyushu travelers, this is a useful city event before winter. You can compare vehicles, then start thinking about Aso, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, Amakusa, Nagasaki, or the ferry connections that make a Kyushu road trip much easier.
The official page currently says pets are not allowed, so do not assume you can bring a dog just because some other camping car events are pet-friendly.
Saitama Camping Car Fair 2026
The Saitama event is different because it is planned as an outdoor fair beside Saitama Stadium 2002, at the Daimon Kamiike retarding basin special venue.
It is scheduled for November 22 and 23, 2026, from 9:30 to 16:30. The official page currently lists free entry, parking, and pet-friendly access.
This could be a good relaxed event for families, dog owners, and people who want to see vehicles in daylight rather than only inside an exhibition hall.
Japan Camping Car Show 2027
If you only choose one event, this is probably the one.
The Japan Camping Car Show 2027 is scheduled for February 5 to 8, 2027 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The official page lists halls 1 to 6, paid parking, indoor exhibition space, food, pet-friendly entry, and child-friendly content.
The 2026 Japan Camping Car Show was already big, with the official event page saying 452 camping cars were gathered across six halls. The 2027 edition should again be the best place to see the full range of Japanese camping cars in one trip.
Makuhari is easy from Tokyo, but it is still a full day if you really want to compare layouts. Wear comfortable shoes, take photos of the spec boards, and write down anything you liked immediately. After a few vans, they all start to blur together.
Spring 2027 regional shows
After Makuhari, the calendar keeps going.
The Osaka Camping Car Show 2027 is listed for March 13 and 14 at Intex Osaka. The Tohoku Camping Car Show 2027 follows on March 20 and 21 at Yume Messe Miyagi in Sendai.
Later in spring, the Kyushu Camping Car Show 2027 is scheduled for May 15 to 17 at Grandmesse Kumamoto, and the Hiroshima Camping Car Fair 2027 is scheduled for May 29 and 30.
These regional shows are worth watching because they make campervan research much easier outside Tokyo. They are also a good way to find local builders, dealers, rental companies, and accessories that may not be obvious in English searches.
What to check before going
Before you go to any camping car event in Japan, check four things:
- the official event page
- whether tickets are cheaper in advance
- whether pets are allowed
- whether parking is available and suitable for your vehicle height
If you are coming by camper, do not assume the event parking lot allows overnight stays. Most exhibition parking is for daytime use only.
How to use a camping car show well
If you are choosing a rental van, focus less on the shiny parts and more on daily life. Where will you put luggage? Can two people move inside? Is the bed annoying to set up? Is there a table you would actually use on a rainy day?
If you are thinking about buying, look at maintenance access, battery systems, air conditioning, heater options, insulation, legal registration, and the base vehicle. A beautiful interior does not help much if the van is too tall for your parking space or too large for the roads you want to drive.
