Explore the Izu peninsula with Ryan Bednar

Just a 2‑hour drive from Tokyo, the Izu Peninsula was where I spent my first nights in a van in Japan. This video brings back a lot of memories for me. Ryan Bednar is one of the most amazing videographers vanlifing around Japan. His cinematic footage combined with his sourcing of amazing places enables anyone to discover what it is like to travel in a van in Japan.

In this video, Ryan is driving a DreamDrive light van and, in partnership with Tokyo Camper Vans, introduces us to his favorite spots, onsen, and places to sleep in the peninsula.

Izu Peninsula is a great area to visit for a weekend or a short week. It's better to avoid the hot summer there for sleeping in a car. While the winter is cold, you'll be able to enjoy the blue sky and amazing views of Mount Fuji. December to March are the months when Fuji‑san is best visible.

In this area I particularly enjoyed Mount Omuro, the countless small beaches, and the great seafood.

Hope you enjoy watching the video as much as I did.
